Don’t take my word for it…look at the numbers.  Twitter’s ranking is #14 in the WORLD.  Need I say more?

USING TWITTER THE RIGHT WAY

Wam, bam, no thank you, spam.  No one likes SPAM!!!  (Isn’t that a canned meat?)  Here are some tips on Twitter etiquette:

1. Didn’t your mom teach you to say thank you?  Thank your followers for following you.
2. Not everyone WANTS to follow you.  Most people will follow you if you follow them.  But if you aren’t selective in your following methods, you’ll hurt your chances of being followed back.  Choose tweeters that have common interests.
3. TWEET.  Don’t just set up an account and add followers.  You need to actually post tweets…DAILY.  People love quotes, valuable information and things that make them laugh.  Mix up your tweets. Don’t just tweet quotes or continuously tweet links to hour long tutorials on “How to Use Twitter to Become Filthy, Stinkin’ Rich.”  Tweet short bits of useful information every so often.  Tweet a quote once in a while.  And, for goodness sake, tweet an original thought!
4. DM.  DM is Twitter lingo for “Direct Message.”  Take the time to read direct messages from your followers.  And take the time to reply.

PUT SOME OOMPH IN YOUR TWITTER

Hopefully, you are smiling and thinking, “wow, this is logical…and doable…and FREE.”  Yes, it is all of those things.  BUT (don’t ya hate those buts) it CAN be time consuming especially if your goal is to build a sizeable list.  I recommend using SocialOOMPH, formerly TweetLater.  SocialOOMPH is a blend of automation and manual tasks.  It has many free services and a trial period for professional services.  Remember that QUALITY BEATS QUANTITY.  Automation is great but don’t abuse it.  The SocialOOMPH site does a great job of explaining each tool and the BEST way to use it.  I increased my following by 300% in one week.  Okay, so I only started out with 100 followers, but that’s not the point.  The point is it took me a few months to get 100 and only a week to add another 300.  And that’s working it for about 30 minutes a day!  Not too difficult, huh?  If your methods are getting you better results, by all means, stick to it!  Better yet, DM me and let me know what you’re doing!  Otherwise, the information WILL help you boost your following.

TWEET WITH CARE…AND PROSPER!

Your goal is to build relationships with like-minded tweeters.  If you are offering something of value, you will earn your followers’ trust.  Once you have their trust, TWEET IT WITH CARE…I mean TREAT it with care .  Don’t start blasting them with things to buy or the next best opportunity.  As your relationships grow, they will naturally be interested in what you are doing.
